Raise your resume to the standards of the most fastidious legal professional! Se Habla Español Is That Your Resume? Do you have language from the late 1990's in
your resume? Are your references
outdated? What about that company that merged and changed its name?
Do you get headaches trying to format
documents? Is it never quite how you want it? Are you unsure of what language to use to
effectively describe your work duties? Is English not your strong suit? It is people who make those documents, and I am one of these people. This is what I do. Some things just have to be as close to perfect as humanly possible. Ever see a dollar bill with a typo? Wouldn't that be a sign of the apocalypse? A professional resume opens doors like a key, content notwithstanding. It tells potential employers that you’re serious and know how the paper game is played. I have been writing and editing professional documents – legal filings, marketing copy, proofs for print and online publication, websites, technical manuals and resumes – for over a decade and I can assist you in clarifying and improving your actual and textual work history in order to, in many cases, dramatically increase your employability. What You Didn't Know About Your Resume I have seen attorneys revel and become disinclined to settle a case because opposing counsel's documents contained factual, legal, grammatical or spelling errors. The rationale is: if he or she isn't sufficiently intelligent or diligent to research facts or law (or spell-check) how will he or she prevail at trial? This is the guy who's going to forget his briefcase, show up late or misinterpret a statute. We are judged by what we put on paper to represent us. Apply this reality to your advantage. As a function of time and money spent, a resume overhaul might be the best investment a person can make in the quest for more income. More tragically, it can mean the difference between an interview or getting your resume tossed. That could be the difference between a job or the unemployment line. Maybe you job-hopped or relocated in your 20's (as I did), and are daunted and burdened by the task of organizing and presenting your work history. Sometimes the emotional work is tougher than the actual effort of revising a document. I can offer dramatic improvements in the overall presentation and content of your resume and work history. I can explain-away gaps or overlapping periods of employment, consolidate employers, highlight applicable skills, cut away the chaff from the wheat and utilize the language that gets employers' attention – while avoiding the pitfalls of fallacy, overstatement or misrepresentation. Or maybe you have a great work history and
would love to convey your years of dedication and hard work, but you simply
don't have the time to revamp your resume or lack the initiative because
you don't know what employers are looking for. Fee The fee is $50 an hour, and the client can expect a turnaround of three days. A resume typically takes three hours ($150) - but may take longer. The service requires a minimum/retainer of $100 to start, which is non-refundable. Clients complete an Order Form and sign a simple Service Contract. After a brief initial meeting in which a format is decided upon and facts are gathered, clients do not need to be present for the document design and completion. The client will receive a .doc or .rtf resume
delivered on
their preferred storage media and/or sent via email. I can, additionally, provide or assist with supporting documents, such as cover letters, references and salary history.
